2026 · Bing-Wu
丙午 — Fire doubled
The year pillar for 2026 is Bing-Wu (丙午). The stem Bing is Fire; the branch Wu is Fire as well. A year whose stem and branch carry the same element is called 干支同氣 — same energy above and below — and such years show that element unusually plainly.
A year’s pillar is given identically to everyone alive. What Bing-Wu means for you depends entirely on your own Day Master. Table 2 is where that divides — which is a different thing from sorting all people into twelve zodiac animals.
The year does not begin on 1 January
In BaZi the year turns not at New Year’s Day nor at Lunar New Year, but at Lichun, the Start of Spring. In 2026 that falls on 4 February — anyone born before it carries the previous year pillar, Yi-Si (乙巳), however the calendar reads. Months turn on solar terms too; the dates in Table 1 are when each month opens.

The Day Master is the heavenly stem of your day of birth — the character that stands for you among the four pillars. If you do not know yours, calculate the chart first.
What doubled Fire does
Fire reveals, burns, and hurries. In a doubled-Fire year things start fast and cool fast. Anything that involves being seen — making a name, standing in front of people, launching something — catches wind. The same force is what burns things through by rushing them. What such a year asks for is not more Fire, but Water (rest, stepping back) and Earth (sorting, storing) placed where the Fire would otherwise overflow.
Previous Bing-Wu years
Bing-Wu returns every sixty years. The last was 1966, and before it 1906. Anyone born in 1966 reaches their hwan-gap (還甲) in 2026 — the return of one’s birth-year pillar after sixty years, which is where the Korean word for a sixtieth birthday comes from.

Table 2 is unusable without it. Enter a birth date and time to get the four pillars and the Day Master — corrected to true solar time.
